About the Artist

Marianne Sparre-Snelling

Marianne was born in Sweden and has been painting most of her life. She studied in Stockholm, Istanbul, London, Paris and later, in San Francisco. She has gone through many stages, many styles, but color always remains the key and focal point.

“I love color; it sometimes drives me crazy that there are so many hues I never get to use. It’s like having a library full of books – you know that it will take a lifetime to read all of them – but they are there waiting for you!”     In painting Hawaii’s flowers Marianne uses water color. More abstract works are executed in acrylics, oils and mixed media.

Marianne now lives permanently in Honolulu but  has shown extensively in both Europe and The United States and her paintings hang in many private homes on both continents.
